Defining the attitudes of the candidates of teacher having education in the education faculty towards the utilization of the computers and internet

Abstract (EN)

The population of this study is the Primary School Teacher and Turkish Teacher candidates in Faculty of Education of Celal Bayar University in the 2005- 2006 academic year. In the research, ?personal characteristics and characteristics of computer usage questionnaire?, ?attitudes towards computer scale? developed by Berberoglu and Çalıkoglu(1992), ?attitudes towards internet usage scale? developed by Tavsancıl and Keser (2002) were used. 616 questionnaires were applied to the teacher candidates and 30 out of 616 questionnaires excluded in the study. In the research, three sub-problems were being tried to answer, and in the analysis of the data frequencies, percentages, arithmetic averages, standard deviations, F tests and LSD tests were used. The findings of the research could be summarized as follows: 1. Significant differences(at p<0.05 level) for the teacher candidates? attitudes towards the computer has been found for the independent variables as follows: Sex, family?s income level, the place where the family lives, whether they own computer or not, the place where they learn to use computer, the place where they use their computers, experience time. Significant differences(at p<0.05 level) for the teacher candidates? attitudes towards the computer has not been found for the independent variables as follows: Their foreign language level, taken computer courses, purpose of usage, the kind of the high school they were graduated from, the student?s programs and the kind of program types in the university. 2. Significant differences(at p<0.05 level) for the teacher candidates? attitudes towards the internet has been found for the independent variables as follows: Sex, family?s level of income, the place where the family lives, whether they have their own computer or not, experience time of internet, usage frequency, the place where they use their internet, usage of e-mail. Significant differences(at p<0.05 level) for the teacher candidates? attitudes towards the internet has not been found for the independent variables as follows: Their foreign language level, internet purpose of usage. 3. Significant differences(at p<0.05 level) has been found between the teacher candidate?s attitudes towards the usage of computer and internet and their knowledge level about the moral and social effects of computer.
