Abstract (EN)
This thesis focuses on the experimental comparison of the load carrying capacities of two distinct types of beams prominent in structural engineering: web expanded cellular beams and corrugated web steel beams, in their curved and straight forms. The aim is to highlight the potential advantages of using new-generation curved beams in structural designs and identify areas for improvement in structural design. In the experiments, curved and straight models of web expanded cellular steel beams and corrugated web steel beams were tested under the same load conditions. Through these experiments, the load carrying capacity, behavior, performance, and failure modes of the beams were analyzed in detail. Additionally, finite element analysis was performed using ANSYS Workbench software, utilizing data obtained from experimental studies. Finite element analysis enabled a more detailed examination of the complex stress distributions, deformations, and load-carrying capacities of the beams, facilitating a comprehensive evaluation of the experimental results. This study will contribute to a better understanding of the effect of new generation curved beams on the load carrying capacity in structural engineering, promote the widespread use of vaulted roofs, and enhance structural design. The findings will assist engineers in providing more optimized solutions in structural designs and constructing safer and more durable structures.
