Ekstraoral ve intraoral radyografilerle dental anomalilerin siklik ve dağilimlarinin değerlendirilmesi

Dental anomalies are pathologies which are important in terms of causing functional and aesthetic disorders and that require time and effort from simple attempts to complicated interventions to ensure that this lost function and aesthetics in their treatment. Our aim in this thesis is to investigate the frequency and distribution of dental anomalies in our society. Panoramic and periapical radiographic images were taken from 1414 patients aged between 5 and 16 years. Dental anomalies were evaluated under the headings of dimension, shape, number, structure and eruption anomalies. The frequency and distributions according to the gender, region, side and position of the detected anomalies were analyzed. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test were used in statistical analysis of gender, age, side and region distributions. In all statistical analyzes the confidence interval was chosen as 95%. In the subjects included in the study, the frequency of the examined dental anomalies was determined as 16.5% (female:124 individuals, 16.2%, male:109 individuals, 16.8%). The frequency of hypodontia in these anomalies was 6% (female:44 individuals, 6%, male:39 individuals, 6%), the frequency of oligodontia was 0.1% (female:0 individual, 0%; male:2 individuals, 0.3%), the frequency of hyperdontia was 1.3% (female:6 individuals, 0.7%; male:13 individuals, 2%), the frequency of impacted tooth was 4.7% (female:32 individuals, 4.2%; male:34 individuals, 5.3%), the frequency of double teeth was 0.3% (female:3 individuals, 0.3%; male:1 individual, 0.1%), frequency of dilaceration was found to be 1.8% (female:17 individuals, 2.2%, male:9 individuals, 1.3%), frequency of dens invaginatus was found to be 0.3% (female:3 individuals, 0.4%; male:2 individuals, 0.3%), The incidence of taurodontism was 2.9% (female:25 individuals, 3.2%, male:16 individuals, 2.4%), the incidence of microdontia was 0.8% (female:7 individuals, 0.9%; male:4 individuals, 0.6%). The frequency of amelogenesis imperfecta was 0.07% (female:1 individual, 0.1%, male: 0 individual, 0%), frequency of inversion was 0.3% (female:1 individual, 0.1%, male:3 individuals, 0.4%), the frequency of the transposition is 0.1% (females:0 individuals, 0%, male:2 individuals, 0.3%), frequency of transmigration was 0.2% (female:2 individuals, 0.3%; male:1 individual, 0.1%) and the frequency of persistent primary teeth was 3.1% (female:19 individuals, 2.5%; male:26 individuals, 4%). A statistically significant difference was found only between the sexes in the evaluation of the supernumerary teeth, but no statistically significant difference was found between the sexes in the other anomalies. Among the examined dental anomalies, the most frequently observed anomalies were hypodontia, followed by impacted teeth, taurodontism, dilaceration, hyperdontia, microdontia, dens invaginatus, double teeth, inversion, transmigration, transposition, oligodontia and amelogenesis imperfecta. Dentists need to be aware of that dental anomalies are the frequent encountered occurence and should give the necessary attention to radiological examination. Early diagnosis and treatment of these anomalies is important to minimize the potential orthodontic and aesthetic problems of the children.
