Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this retrospective and prospective study, the aim was evaluated the incidence of clinical symptoms data in our cases of ectodermal dysplasia to determine the rates of endemic distribution of ED to the surrounding provinces, compare the findings with the literature, improve the quality of life by cooperating with the cases, provide esthetic, function, phonation and create awareness among dentists. Material and Method: This study was performed to evaluate the clinical and radiological findings of 69 patients with ectodermal dysplasia who applied to Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry between 1997-2018. All data were evaluated statistically. Results: Of the 69 cases which examined in our study, who had 95,31% sparse hair, 56,25% nail deformity, 64,06% saddle nose, 68,75% protuberent lip, 79,69% skin dryness, 79,37% sweating problem, 65.08% respiratory problem, 55,74% hearing loss found, also it was determined that 77,05% of the case parents were relative. When the dental anomalies of our cases were examined, 69,69% of the cases had conical shaped anterior teeth, all of our cases had missing teeth and 4,41% of the cases had lip and palate cleft. Conclusion: For ectodermal dysplasia cases is concluded that, a multidisciplinary approach involving both medical medicine and dentistry are necessarily. Dental treatment approaches provide restoration of aesthetics, function and phonation as well as supporting to normal growth and development. Dentists and parents should be aware that the existing teeth must be protected idealy and these teeth loss should be rehabilitated at the earliest stage.
