Elaziğ village spectator games

Theatrical village plays based on the struggle of mankind against nature has come until today by feeding on Shamanism and mythology. Incorporating cultural, socioeconomic and belief-related values into its structure, theatrical plays were mostly performed in Anatolia. They are an indicator of our cultural wealth and they also regulate the operation of society. As a result of various factors such as developing technology and migration from the country to town, theatrical village plays which build a bridge between past and future have given place to different entertainments in time and been in danger of being forgotten. The fact that the plays compiled in ur study titled "Elazığ Village Theater Plays" were fed with Shamanism and mythology, reveals the diversity of mythical and symbolic elements in these plays. Furthermore, having been shaped by the deep historical and cultural structure of Elazığ, they serve as a cultural bridge, as well. In addition to being rich in content and structure, Elazığ village plays functions perfectly well to help with socialization, intergenerational cultural transfer and education, wich proves they have already established a significant place withing the society too. Our aim in this study; to continue the flow of Elazığ Village Theatrical Plays from past to present, to contribute to the intergenerational transfer, to prevent the games from being forgotten and to maket he games compatible with the changing and developing technology. Being a cultural heritage, Elazığ village plays aim at serving Turkish culture generally, speaking, while their goal in specific terms is the Elazığ culture itself, in regards with all the symblical meanings and richness and diversity they conserve within themselves.
