Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to develop Naproxen, a nonstreoidal anti-inflammatory drug, loaded drug releasing textile based surfaces produced by electrospinning process, characterize these nanofibers and investigate their drug release properties. For this purpose nonbiodegredable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and biodegredable poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) polymers were electrospinned alone. They were also electrospinned with different concentration of Naproxen, different cyclodextrins and Naproxen-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes. Characterization and release profiles of produced nanofibers were assessed. Studies performed with of Naproxen loaded TPU nanofibers have shown that drug release can be prolonged up to 5 days due to the thicknesses of the surfaces which depends on the collection period, polymer and the drug concentration. It was seen that drug release of naproxen-cyclodextrin inclusion complex loaded TPU nanofibers can be modified with the selected cyclodextrin type. In the studies with PVA nanofibers, polycarboxylic acids were used as crosslinking agents to decrease the water solubility of the PVA nanofibers. The effect of the crosslinking on Naproxen release properties were evaluated. Besides, cyclodextrin loaded PVA solutions were electrospinned, their morphologies were investigated and Naproxen-cyclodextrin inclusion complex loaded nanofibers containing polycarboxylic acids were produced. The resulting nanofibers were characterized by using SEM, DSC, TGA, FTIR, XRD methods.
