Analysis of the factors affecting the diffusion and adoption of contract farming in greenhouse in Elmalı district

Present study is an effort to determine the factors affecting diffussion and adoption of contract farming in greenhouse in Elmalı District. Within the scope of the study, 88 farmers were selected as sample farmers from 16 villages using simple random sampling method. For the research questionnaire with respondents was the primary source of and literature rewiew is the secondary source of data. For analysis of obtained data, Mann-Whitney U analysis was used for continuous data and Chi-square was used for discrete data. After these tests correlation was found among independent variables, as a result logistic regression was used as right model for analysis. According to results of the study, 42% of contract farming farmers' education level is middle school, 88% have land ownership of 10 da or above, and 56% don't have their own tractor. Almost 56% of respondents first heard about contract farming after 2008. While deciding for contract farming most important criteria has been price and sale quarantee and income of neighbour farmer. In addition, use of traditional or conventional source of information is more common among farmers as compared to modern sources of information.
