Religioun and ethics education in pre school instutions and primary schools in Indonesia

Faith is a tendency and need that exist in the nature of man, in his creation. This tendency should not be ignored, it should be made the subject of education and responded to the need of man in this direction. The aim of our study is to determine the place given to religious education within the education system in Indonesia today and to determine what characteristics it has. Thus, it will be explained what kind of change has occurred in which periods from past to date. Qualitative research method was used in the study. In this context, by conducting a resource screening on the subject by collecting information from the past and the present, explanations have been made about the topics of the institutions where religious education is carried out, the objectives, content, teaching methods and materials of religious education. Thus, when Indonesia gained independence from 1945 to the present day, the change in the field of religious education was introduced with its general lines. According to our findings, religious lessons were included in schools with legal regulations made in Indonesia in 1945. Like other lessons, teaching programs have also been prepared for religous lessons. The content of the lesson consists the principles of İslamic faith, worship and morality. During the study, the change in the historical process and in the topic of: the purpose, program, content and methods of today's lessons sometimes comparisons have been made with religious education practices in Turkey.
