Endonezyalı gelinler: Endonezya-Türkiye evliliklerinde sorun çözme tarzı, evlilik memnuniyeti ve yaşam kalitesi üzerine karma yöntemlerle yapılmış fenomenolojik bir araştırma

The number of marriage registrations between Turkish men and Indonesian women has increased rapidly in recent years. Previous studies reported that international marriage mobility leads to various physical, psychological, and social consequences. Despite the growing number of Indonesia-Türkiye Intermarriages, academic investigations are limited. This paper comprises two studies that examine conflict resolution style, marital satisfaction, and quality of life of Indonesian brides in Indonesia-Türkiye intermarriages using the concurrent model of Mixed Methods Phenomenological Research (MMPR). Data was collected from Indonesian brides (ranging from 19 to 58 years old) who married Turkish grooms using telephone interviews in Study 1 and online surveys consisting of the Conflict Resolution Styles Inventory, ENRICH Marital Satisfaction, and WHO Quality of Life-BREF in Study 2. Study 1 aims to identify common challenges and conflict resolution styles based on female married migrants' experiences in Türkiye. Meanwhile, Study 2 aims to assess the relationship between conflict resolution style, marital satisfaction, and quality of life of Indonesian brides who marry Turkish men. Study 1 (N = 7, mean age = 41.14) recognized four common issues that led to conflict: conflict of interest, in-law involvement, communication style, and social restriction; and five conflict resolution styles used: collaborating, accommodating, compromising, competing, and avoiding. Study 2 (N = 199, mean age = 35.46, SD = 8.38) revealed that two conflict resolution styles (positive problem-solving, and withdrawal) indirectly related to the quality of life through marital satisfaction. Furthermore, demographic factors, such as low monthly income, low Turkish proficiency, and living with husband's extended family positively correlated to lower quality of life in several domains.
