Literary environment of the Mulükü`t-Tava`if period in Andalusia

Abstract (EN)

It is known that the State of Andalusia has an important place in the history of civilization because of providing its society with innovation and prosperity. These innovations, noticed clearly in everything, were obvious in literature as well and helpful to bring up important individuals by means of the excellent culture, which belonged to that State. During the period of Mulukû't-Tavâif, which is the subject of this study, founded in 1031 and lasted approximately until 1090, the literary world of Andalusia started to form one of the most important stages by bringing up the famous writers and poets such as İbnul-'Abbâd, Ibn Hamdîs, İbn 'Abdûn, İbn Zeydûn and İbn Hazm. The kings, emirates, viziers and royal members had an important role in this literary movement. During this stage, the literary development emerged as poetry and prose. Therefore, in this literary development poetry had a crucial role. The poets, mentioned above contributed greatly to the classical Arabic poetry both orally and stylistically. Moreover, there were also changes in subjects and by means of the privileges they got in the palaces. This study, which is called Literary Environmet of the Mulûku't-Tavâ'if Period in Andalusia, consists of Introduction and two other chapters. The subjects, which were examined in Introduction played an important role in the development of literature in this period. In the introduction part of the study some social events and subjects have been cited as they had an important impact on the development of the literature during the period of Mulukut-Tavaif. In this period, unlike that in poetry, there were many developments in prose. The variety in rhetoric, content and subject matters came into being as figurative language. Therefore, prose was not only limited to sermon, dialogue and treatise, but many important works were also produced in science and literature. In Chapter One, and Chapter Two, it has been aimed to reflect the features of the period in poetry and prose and, especially, by handling the changes occurred in poetry in detail it was aimed to contribute to all kinds of studies which will be carried out in future.
