Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of the study, establishing an analogy between the effective functioning area of a designed system (architectural structure, living organism, business organization, etc.) and the evaluation of industrial heritage has created the originality of the approach under study. It is thought that explaining the subject by expanding the scope of the basic analogy obtained in the "Program-Shell" relationship, which defines the original point of the thesis, will lead to a meaningful evaluation of the approach to reuse the industrial heritage structures defining the sampling area. In this context, the industrial heritage characteristics of the former Turkish Agricultural Equipment Corporation (TZDK) factory campus have been defined and the intervention levels in the buildings and the preservation status of the buildings have been determined. Analyzes and evaluations were made based on photo archives documenting the old and current structure of the region, aerial photographs, zoning plan sheets obtained from the relevant municipalities and existing studies in this field. Within the scope of re-functioning the sampling area, the effects of current approaches that require the industrial heritage to give a function in the life of society and aim to include the conservation of this heritage in comprehensive planning programs have been revealed. It has been observed that the TZDK factory campus, which is the study area, is an industrial heritage example that experienced the process of abandonment after the factory moved to the city periphery and the destructive power of the earthquake. Due to the fact that this area is located in the earthquake zone, it was decided to be designed as a large gathering area ready for use during possible future earthquakes and as an urban public park that will meet the need for urban space spaces due to its location in the city center. With this decision, there has been a tendency to treat residual industrial residue structures as a shell that can only be adapted for functional, financial and technical purposes. It is concluded that the necessary importance is not given to the preservation of the symbolic representation values of the mentioned places and to the heritage aspects. A number of methods have been considered and tabulated to suggest different possible ways of thinking about existing interventions and evaluations within the scope of the sample area.
