Abstract (EN)

Energy efficient building production and evaluation is an important issue that has been emphasized in the recent days when we struggled with climatic changes and global warming. Energy efficient buildings produced with the concern of reducing the environmental impact are evaluated by different systems. These systems have divided building types and evaluation criteria into different categories. There may be insufficient classifications made on commonly produced houses, urban scale projects, newly constructed buildings or improved buildings. The design and evaluation of stadium buildings are examples of these situations. Football stadiums, which are widely produced around the world, are jointly designed and implemented within the scope of FIFA criteria. This situation enables the stadium buildings to be produced in a common quality. However, when it comes to energy efficient stadium production, different green building evaluation systems such as LEED, SBTool, BREEAM, CASBEE, HK-BEAM and SBAT are applied. Among these systems, only the SBAT evaluation system has been developed in accordance with the design criteria of the stadium buildings. The "Energy Efficient Stadium Design Criteria", developed in line with FIFA criteria and green building evaluation systems such as LEED, SBTool, BREEAM, CASBEE, HK-BEAM, SBAT, and the "Energy Efficient Stadium Design Criteria",which are examined within the scope of the study, are created taking into consideration the needs and environmental impacts of the stadiums. The certification system widely used in energy efficient stadium production worldwide is LEED. Therefore, within the scope of the study, LEED certified ; Castelao Stadium, Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium and Fonte Nova Stadium are examined in detalied way. Besides these stadiums, Green Point Stadium, Moses Mobhida Stadium and Peter Mokhaba Stadium, which are balanced under the SBAT evaluation system, are also examined in detail. These six stadiums, which were examined by the certificate system they were evaluated in, are re-evaluated by the "Energy Efficient Stadium Design Criteria" developed within the scope of the study and the results are analyzed. As a result, it is seen that LEED and SBAT systems have criteria that are insufficient to evaluate the energy efficiency of stadium buildings.
