Abstract (EN)
Eratna State is a principality which was established towards the middle of XIV. Century in Central Anatolia, The founder of the Principality; Eratna was a Uighur Turk under the court of Temürtaş; who was the governor of the Ilhan State for Anatolia. Temürtaş, after coming to Anatolia, has started invasion and extension movements as he fought with the Principalities in Anatolia. Meanwhile, Temürtaş, after learning about the murder of his father and then his brother at the center of the Ilhan State, has fled to Egypt leaving Emir Eratna as his deputy in Anatolia (1327). Emir Eratna thanks to his good governance in Anatolia managed to remain on duty during the term of Sheikh Hassan of Celayir; who was brought as the Governor to Anatolia in place of Temürtaş.In the meantime, following the death of Abu Said Bahadır Khan in 1335, without leaving a son behind, and the leaving of Sheikh Hassan for Iran to grab a decent place from the Mongolian land taking advantage of the on going disorder, leaving Eratna as the representative of Anatolia has been a good opportunity and Eratna laid the foundation of the Principality. Consequently, after being subject to the Mamelukes for a while, Eratna at last has produced coin money and a sermon was read on his behalf. A large part of the Anatolian Seljuk?s territory was conquered. His domination was solidified with the victory of Karanbük against Sheikh Hassan from Çoban, in 1343. Alaeddin Eratna, managing the state until 1352, was an experienced soldier and statesman as well as a religious, fair, benevolent and wise ruler. Alaeddin Eratna, both thanks to his mentioned features and his sparse beard has earned the nickname ?Beardless Prophet? and reputation among public.Following the death of Sultan Alaeddin, Gıyaseddin Mehmed, Izeddin Cafer, Alaeddin Ali and II. Mehmed became the rulers respectively. Nevertheless, none of them were able to show a significant presence as Alaeddin Eratna did. In 1381 Gazi Burhan Ahmed has put an end to the Principality, and founded his own state carrying his name. The Eratna State who reigned between the years 1327-1381, having first Sivas then Kayseri and then again Sivas as their capital, had the largest area of land among the Anatolian principalities. Eratna people did not use the institutions of only Ilhanian culture and civilization but used and contributed to the institutions of Anatolian Seljuk?s culture and civilization as well. At the same time they have made great contribution to the Anatolian culture and civilization by enhancing these institutions.Key Words1. Eratna State2. Sultan Alaeddin Eratna3. İlkhanid Empire4.
