Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to analyze short term changes primarily resulting from built-up development on the coastal zone of Erdemli Town of Mersin Province (Turkey) using landscape pattern metrics. Fort his purpose, IKONOS and Quickbird images were classified and the changes were quantitatively analyzed using cross-tabulation of classification results. Changes in landscape structure were assessed using calculated values of composition and configuration metrics that were based on the raster classification results. The information derived from the results of this study is expected to contribute regional and state-level efforts of environmental planning.
