Abstract (EN)

In the study, the relationship between the early maladaptive schemas of adolescent individuals and their academic success was examined. It was investigated to what extent there is a significant relationship between early maladaptive schemas and academic success, and which of the early maladaptive schema areas of adolescent individuals predict academic success. The sample of the research consists of 430 participants between the ages of 14-16. Within this study; Personal Information Form and Early Maladaptive Schema Scales Set for 10-16 Years Old Children and Adolescents (ESDS) forms were used. In the study, data was collected from the participants online and on a voluntary basis. SPSS-25 statistical program was used to analyze the data. Independent groups t test and one-way ANOVA analyzes were used when examining the participants' early maladaptive schemas and academic achievement levels according to demographic variables. The independent variables of the research are: gender, age, education level, high school type, grade point average, grade level, number of siblings, birth order, whether the parents are alive or not, and the economic status of the parents. The dependent variable is academic achievement and early maladaptive schemas. The predictor variable was early maladaptive schemas; The predicted variable is academic success. Since there are two variables, the relational screening model was used. Significant differences occurring in the one-way ANOVA analysis were examined with the Tukey test, one of the post-hoc tests. Additionally, the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and academic achievement levels was examined using Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. When the analysis of the early maladaptive schemas and academic achievements of the participating individuals is evaluated; It was determined that skepticism and abuse, emotional deprivation, failure, dependency/inadequacy, entitlement/grandiosity, insufficient self-control and pessimism schemas had a negative and significant relationship with academic success (p<.05). Participants' academic success scores; It was found that there was a significant difference between demographic variables such as gender, age, school type, grade level, economic status, father's education level, mother's education level, but there was no significant difference between the number of siblings, sibling order and family integrity variables. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was a significant relationship between the academic achievements of adolescent individuals and their early maladaptive schemas and demographic variables.
