Abstract (EN)

In this study, whether there was a significant relationship between teenagers' hope and optimism scores and perceived parental forgiveness scores was examined. The study group consisted of 663 students (321 females, 341 males, 1 unstated) from the schools in Gaziantep in 2018-2019 academic year. Data collection tools were Personal Information Form, Perceived Parental Forgiveness Scale, Hope Scale, Optimism Scale and Parental Attitude Scale. The study was based on correlational model. Pearson Correlation and One-way ANOVA were used and Games-Howell post-hoc test was used for multiple comparisons. It was found that there was a low but positive relationship between perceived parental forgiveness and hope; moderate positive, significant relationship between perceived parental forgiveness and optimism, and moderate positive, significant relationship between hope and optimism. Hope and optimism scores differed in each level of parental forgiveness. Results were discussed in terms of the influence of parental forgiveness for children' wellness.
