Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine whether adolescents' levels of body satisfaction, psychological resilience, and gender perception differ significantly according to their status of listening to K-Pop or watching K-Pop music videos. The sample of the study consists of a total of 784 students, 512 female and 272 male, studying in various types of high schools and middle schools during the 2024–2025 academic year. The data collection tools used in the study are the Personal Information Form, the Body Appreciation Scale, the Child and Youth Resilience Scale (CYRM-12), and the Gender Perception Scale Adolescent Form. In order to determine whether adolescents' levels of body satisfaction, psychological resilience, and gender perception differ significantly according to their K-Pop listening/watching status, Independent Samples T-Test analysis was conducted. In addition, to examine whether adolescents' K-Pop listening/watching status differs significantly by gender, school type, and grade level, Chi-Square Test for Independence was applied. As a result of the analyses, it was found that adolescents' levels of body satisfaction, psychological resilience, and gender perception differed significantly according to their K-Pop listening/watching status. Adolescents who listened to K-Pop or watched music videos were found to have lower levels of body satisfaction and psychological resilience compared to those who did not, whereas their gender perceptions were found to be more egalitarian. Furthermore, it was determined that adolescents' K-Pop listening/watching status differed significantly by gender, school type, and grade level. The rates of listening to K-Pop and watching music videos were higher among female participants, middle school students, and especially 5th-grade adolescents. The findings obtained were discussed within the framework of the literature, and suggestions were made for relevant fields.
