An investigation the behavioral problems of adelescents, who perceived emotional abuse from parents and teachers

The purposes of this study is to determine the interaction between the behavioral problems of adolsecents attending high school and their emotional exploitation by the parents and teachers. This study has been conducted among 425 students, 247 of them girls and 187 of them boys, who have been attending to four different high schools in Mersin.In the investigation, to define the level of perceived emotional abuse of adolescents from parents ?The Perception of Psychological Maltreatment Inventory for Adolescent ? Mother Form and Father Form? is used while Alantar (1989), to define the level of perceived emotional abuse of adolescents from teacher ?The perceived Teacher Behavior Inventory? is used while Alantar (1989), to define the level of perceived behavioral problems ?The Conners? Teacher Rating Scale? is used while Conners (1969). To gather demografical characteristics of the adolescents ?Personal Questionnarie Form? was applied. One way Anova Analysis, Kruskal Wallis, The Mann-Whitney U Test and Regression Analysis were used for statistical analyses.The research revealed that the behavioral problems of boys are more common than the girls.Compared to boys the emotional abuse from mothers are high among girls. On the other hand, boys perceive the emotional abuse from teachers on a higher level than girls. İt?s also determined that there?s no difference in perception of emotional abuse among boys and girls. And therefore it?s predetermined that the emotional abuse perceived from a teacher, the low level of respect and recognition perceived from a teacher, mother and the high level of insuit and humiliation from father raise the behavioral problems of adolsecents considerably.
