Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between the level of irritability in adolescents, metacognition problems and self-conscious affect. Adolescents who are students in Antalya and Istanbul participated in the study. A total of 449 people, 287 (63.9%) of the participants were women and 162 (36.1%) were men. Adolescents aged 11-17 who voluntarily participated in the study were asked to approve the Informed Consent Form. Adolescents who agreed to participate in the study were then asked to fill out the Sociodemographic Data Form, Metacognitive Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (MCQ-C), DSM-5 Level 2 Irritability Scale and Self-Awareness Affects Test of Self- Concious Affect (TOSCA-A). IBM SPSS 25 (Statistical Package of Social Sciences) was used in the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the research. According to the results of the research, emotional reactivity scores, shame scores, guilt scores, metacognitive problems total scores, superstition and responsibility scores, and negative meta-worry scores of women in the adolescent age group were found to be significantly higher than male participants. Externalization and externalization-shame scores were found to be significantly higher in male participants than in female participants. It was observed that shame, externalization-shame and negative metacognition problems affect the level of irritability in the adolescent age group, and shame plays a partial mediator role between negative metacognition problems and irritability.
