Özet (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to examine Self-Esteem and anger and types of anger expression as predictors of loneliness in adolescents.The sample of the study consist of 478 ninth, tenth and eleventh grade high school students (244 female, 234 male) selected from İskenderun Fatih Anatolian High School and İskenderun Körfez High School at 2006-2007 school year. The participants? mean is 16.01.In pursuing this study goal, UCLA Loneliness Inventory, State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Inventory were administered to 478 high school students. Data obtained have been analysed statistically by using SPSS Windows Packet Programme. Pearson product moment correlations analys have been carried out on these data.The level of significance was selected as p<.05.The results of the study showed that a negative correlation between loneliness scores and self-esteem scores, and anger control scores; and a positive correlation between loneliness scores internal anger scores, and external anger scores. As a result of this study the main predictor of the loneliness is self-esteem. Following predictors are internal anger and anger control. Although there is a relationship between loneliness and trait anger, and external anger this relationship is not significant.Key words: Adolescent, Loneliness, Self-Esteem, Anger
