A study on the relation of perceived parental attidudes of teenagers with self-respect and psychological well being

Abstract (EN)

Positive parental attitudes are very important in the education of individuals who have ahealty self esteem and who can express themselves. The development of social skills and interpersonel relations, positive self esteem , positive self-life and a positive view of his life and to create a meaning in life can be provided with a family atmosphere based on trust and love sharing. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between perceived parental attitudes of the adolescents with self-esteam and psycholojical well- being. The sample of the study consists of 486 students studying 11.and 12.grades in Kelkit disetrict of Gümüşhane province 2015-2016 academic year. İn order to datain the data of the research, The Parenting Attitude Scale self-esteam scale psyholojical well-being scale and the personal information form developed by the reresearcher were used .SPSS 22 package programe used in the analysis of the data obtamed t-test, oneway variance analysis, correlotion and multiple regression analysis were used. P<.05 significance level was accepted for the interpretation of the date. In this study, addescents perceived parental attitudes, psychological well-being and self esteam in terms of various variables in terms of various variables were exaimined. According to the research results perceived democratic parental attitudes of adoloscents vory significiantly according to gender. Income level towever it was found that perceveived parental attitudes of adolescents didn't differ according to the level of high school type and parents education level. Perceived protective parental attitudes differed according to gender and income level but didn't differ according to the level of educaiton and the number of sblings. Perceived authoritorion parental attitudes were found to be related only to gender. Psychological well being of adolescents has been found to have a significent relationship with sex. Adolescents self esteam was signicantly differentiated according to high school type fincome level and mother's level of education . The relationship between percevied parental attitudes of addescents and psychological well being of self esteam was found to be significant. It was found that, there was a significant positive correlation (r=48) between psychological well being of adolescents and perceived democratic parental attitudes. A significant negative correlation was found between the perceived protective parental attidues (r=46) and the perceived authoritorion parental attitudes (r=50). A positive relatioship between adolescent self esteam and perceived democratic parental attitudes (r=31). A significant negative correlation was found between perceived protective parental attitudes (r=24) and perceived authorition parental attitudes. The relationship between self esteem and psychological well being of adolescents was found to be positively positive (r=46). The study of this study with different samples will contribute to the formation of a rich literatüre on the subject and thus to contribute to new interpretations and opnions and to raise awareness about the subject.
