The humanistic aspect of Erich Fromm's ethical approach

In this study, the works of a sociologist and a psychoanalyst Erich Fromm will be evaluated from a humanist framework with a systematic research and analysis; It will be determined whether the moral philosophy of Fromm and the humanistic approach will be compatible with each other and in the light of the results, it will be determined whether the moral philosophy of Fromm can be defined as a humanist approach. There are two main tasks we need to do when analyzing a thought: the first is to determine the place and importance of the thought in the whole of the ideological system it belongs to. For this purpose, in the first part of our study, firstly Erich Fromm's understanding of human and general moral philosophy will be examined in connection with his general thought system and the fundamental dynamics on which he builds his understanding of morality will be examined in depth. The second task we have to perform in the analysis of thoughts is to determine whether there is a different use of thoughts from the real meaning of an connecting link or analogy. In this context, the meanings that 'alienation, selfishness, joy, religion, incest are attributed to Fromm's various concepts related to morality and human will be determined. In the second part of our thesis, after a brief reminding about the tradition of humanist thought, Fromm's philosophy of morality and humanist thought will be compared, and the accuracy, validity and consistency of our thesis will be tested in accordance with the common and contradictory aspects determined in the context of these premises. The aim of this study is; to follow the approaches that can contribute to the solution of values and moral problems which are an important problem of the modern world and to trace the opportunities that will bring us closer to the ideal of being better at individual, social or even global level. And to bring to light contributions which have be made by him to this topic and which he would made for this purpose, by examining the morality developed by Fromm in the light of the accumulation of knowledge up about the people reached by our age.
