Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the influence of family, environment, and society on the inclination of athletes playing in the Men's First League during the 2023-2024 season toward volleyball. The population of the study consists of 24 teams and 384 athletes playing in Turkey's Men's First League during the 2023-2024 season, while the sample includes 263 athletes. Data were collected using a 4-item personal information form and the "Reasons for Starting Sports and Expectations" scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS, and parametric tests were applied as the data showed a normal distribution. T-tests were used for binary variables, ANOVA for multiple groups, and the significance level was set at p<0.05. The research findings reveal that participants aged 5-8 scored significantly higher in starting sports compared to those aged 13-16 (p<0.05). It was found that individuals with fathers involved in sports were more inclined toward sports. Differences in participation and expectations were identified between those living in rural and urban areas (p<0.05), while educational level influenced sports encouragement and participation but did not affect expectations (p>0.05). Research results indicate that starting age, family members involved in sports, residential area, and education level significantly affect individuals' inclination, participation, and expectations in sports. Early sports initiation, family support, increased opportunities in rural areas, and education-based participation are vital for expanding sports.
