Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to adapt the Language Use Inventory (LUI): An Assessment Of Young Children's Pragmatic Language Development into Turkish. The inventory consisted of 3 sections with 173 items and 14 sub-tests. In the validity and reliability analyzes, the responses of 309 parents of 18-48-month-old children with typical development and 45 parents of children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) aged 18-71 months were given to LUI-TR used. For the reliability of the inventory "Reliability Analysis" was used, and for the construct validity "Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)" was used. After the structural validity test, "Average Explained Variance" and "Combined Reliability" values were calculated for the convergent and divergent validity of the scale. Item distinctiveness of the items related to the inventory was examined by 27% sub-item analysis. The relationship between sub-dimensions of the inventory was analyzed using correlation analysis. It has been determined that all sub-dimensions of the inventory are interrelated. As a result of the validity and reliability analysis, it was concluded that LUI-TR is an appropriate tool to be used in the evaluation of the pragmatic language skills of Turkish speaking children of 18-48 months old. When a comparison was made by gender, it was observed that there was no statistically significant difference in the inventory scores of girls and boys, and when compared by age, the scores obtained increased with age. When the pragmatic language skills of children diagnosed with ASD and children with typical development were compared, it was found that children with ASD had lower scores than their typically developing peers.
