Abstract (EN)

Purpose: Cardiovascular diseases are frequently onset on adulthood, also it is know that atherosclerosis starts in childhood. The purpose of our study is to decrease illness risk by stating preventive precaution in early stapes for the risk factors in children of families with myocardial infarct at early ages.Fact and Methods: This study is a prospective, cross sectional and case controlled study. In this study, 43 children between ages of 5-18 who had early age Myokardial İnfarction history in their families as a risk group, 55 children between ages of 5-18 who did not have Cardiovascular diseases history in their families as control group were included. After 12 hours of fasting plasma cholesterol, VLDL, LDL, HDL, trigliserid, glucose and homocysteine levels were studied in all children included in this study. Echocardiyographic evalution and simultaneously Electrocardiograpics were performed. Blood presures were measured after 15 minutes of testingFindings: In echocardiographic evaluation IVS value was determed higher in risk group (P=0,003)In children from risk group, mean Total Cholesterol:180,02 mg/dl, mean HDL:43,37 mg/dl, mean LDL:109,58 mg/dl, mean VLDL:61,7 mg/dl, mean trigliseride:136,84 mg/dl measurements were received. In children from control group mean Total Cholesterol:140,05 mg/dl, mean HDL:40,13 mg/dl, mean LDL:84,78 mg/dl, mean VLDL:21,67 mg/dl, mean trigliseride:90,85 mg/dl measurements were acquired. In the risk group it was detected that mean homocysteine levels were higher than the control group(p.A statistical relation was noted between family?s type of fat consumption, Total Cholesterol, trigliseride and Body Mean İndex.Result: In the risk group children ıt was detected that, levels of Total Choleterol, LDL and homocysteine were high, which are considered as the most important causes of atherosclerosis
