A rhythmical examination of Erzincan regional folk dances' melodies

This research covers the identification and examination of the rhythm patterns of the folk dance musical works that have preserved their vitality in the folk culture of the Erzincan region. The main purpose of the research is to record the musical works identified in this direction for making them permanent and transferring them to the future. In this study, which deals with the rhythmic examination of the folk dance melodies of the Erzincan region, evaluations were made on the basis of the scanning model. In the research, the data were obtained from the literature review method and interviews with the source people in the field. In addition, interviews were held with pre-determined resource persons in order to obtain information about the folk dances played in the Erzincan region within the framework of the research subject and to contribute to the musical analysis to be made. Total of 27 musical works of folk dances performed in the Erzincan region, which is the subject of the research, were identified. The melodies and rhythm notes of these identified works were notated separately and the rhythm patterns of the musical works were examined through the rhythm notes taken.
