Özet (EN)

"Istanbul kekigi", Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart is a natural aromatic plant grows in Marmara region and known as "Istanbul kekigi" and is widely used as "kekik". The aim of this study is to indicate its drug facts, the essential oil yield and the essential oil content, its yield as well as the qualities of "Istanbul kekigi" grown under Eskisehir climate conditions. For this purpose, two variety candidates developed by Yalova Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute. These varieties which were thought to be different in thymol and carvacrol content was grown in the production year of 2015 and this process was carried out with 8 replications in accordance with the Randomized Complete Block Design. The harvest, drying, and the process of obtaining the essential oil was performed as defined in the European Pharmacopoeia. Subsequently, GC (gas chromatography) and GC/MS (gas chromatography / mass spectrometry) were performed using chemical analysis of essential compounds. In the study, all the measurement and analysis made separately on two variety candidate which ratio of thymol (T) and carvacrol (C) thought to be different. T and C green herb yield respectively 12,650 kg/ha and 9,060 kg/ha, dry herb yield was found 4,660 kg/ha and 3,150 kg/ha, respectively. Average plant height 72.1 cm of candidate variety T whereas 61.3 cm of candidate variety C. Essential oil content was found average 5.19 % on candidate variety T, whereas 6.9 % on candidate variety C. The results of essential oil analysis, candidate variety C average carvacrol content was found 78.2-81.8 %, thymol 0.1-0.4 % and candidate variety T carvacrol content 69.3-83.1 %, thymol trace amount to 9.7 %.
