Sociological understanding of the processes becaming a marijuana user

There is a significant increase in the prevalence of drugs and usage of cannabis among them. The present study focuses on the processes of cannabis users' acquaintance with cannabis, learning to use, and continuing use. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 10 female and 20 male cannabis users living in the provinces of Ankara, Adana and Istanbul to collect data on their cannabis use experiences. Along with the qualitative interview, the cannabis use experience was depicted in detail by taking participant, observation and field notes. The pre-use, during-use and post-use experiences of users were examined in detail by being involved in and observing the collection processes for cannabis use, procurement and mass consumption. It has been determined that among the drugs, cannabis is perceived as a harmless substance by users, and the presence of friends and others who use cannabis in their close circle makes it easier to be a user. Social media and digital content are just as effective as experienced users in learning about the usage of cannabis. It was determined that the experience of using cannabis in the form of a recreational group and the experiences in the individual use process differed. After comparing the results, a comprehensive analysis of cannabis use was presented. Key Words: Cannabis Use, Friendship Relations, Recreational Use, Individual Use
