The effect of different litter materials used in broiler farm in different season on performance

In the poultry sector, the rate of body weight per unit area has increased compared to previous years, due to this increase in body weight, foot problems increase, and it becomes more important to make the climatic environment suitable for the litter and poultry house. This study was carried out to reveal the effects of different litter materials used in broiler houses depending on an integration on the performance and carcass quality of animals in different seasons. The experiment was carried out in the same area with a capacity of 10 000 in Eşme district of Uşak province, in 4 broiler clusters with similar heating-ventilation systems. Wood shavings were used as litter in two of these hens, and paddy husk was used in the other two. The climatic environment (humidity-temperature) in the henhouse was determined daily during the experiment. In the study, equine pH and NH3 concentration in the henhouse were determined weekly. During the experiment, the live weights of the animals were determined weekly. At the end of the trial, foot sole burn was determined. As a result, the body weight at the end of the trial was statistically higher in sawdust group than in rice husk (P<0.05). The highest body weight gain in animals was observed in winter. Ammonia level in the henhouse was found to be statistically higher in the wood sawdust group than in the rice husk group (P<0.05). The highest value of ammonia level in the henhouse, litter pH and foot burn rate were determined in the spring season. Foot sole burn was statistically higher in sawdust than in paddy husk litter after cutting (P< 0.05)
