The relationship between housewives' trait anger, anger expression styles and religiosity

The aim of this study is to research the relationship between trait anger, anger expression styles and religiosity in housewives. The research consists of two main parts: theoretical and empirical. In theoretical chapter, theoretical explanations about the subject are given; in the emprical part, the data which is obtained with the data collection tools, were analyzed with experiential techniques, and the relevant results were evaluated. In the study, "Personal İnformation Form", "Ok-Religious Attitude Scale" and "Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale" which consisted of Trait Anger, Internal Anger, External Anger and Anger Control sub-dimensions, were used as data collection tools. The sample group of the study consists of 667 housewives who were aged 18-40 and over. A large part of the questionnaire was applied in the city center of Erzincan, and the rest Menemen district of İzmir. The data of the study were evaluated on the basis of independent variables such as age, duration of marriage, number of children, occupation, spouse occupation, socio-economic level and educational status. In this context, no significant relationship was found between trait anger and religiosity; negative relationship was found between religiosity, and internal and external anger; on the other hand, positive and significant relationships were found between religiosity and anger control. As a result, although religiosity has an effect on the trait anger levels of housewives, this effect did not reach the level of significance; however, it was determined that religiosity had a positive effect on the anger expression styles of housewives.
