Abstract (EN)
Energy has an important place in the development and sustainability of modern societies. The environmental damage caused by the use of fossil fuels, their finite nature and greenhouse gas emissions are considered as threats to energy security in the long term. Research has shown that it is important for a sustainable future that the energy sources to be used are both renewable and environmentally friendly. Hydrogen gas can be characterized as a potential energy carrier due to its high energy density, clean combustion properties and versatile uses. Scientific studies are investigating different methods for the production, storage and utilization of hydrogen, and innovative solutions are being developed to obtain hydrogen from low-cost sources such as wastewater. In this study, it has been focused on issues such as hydrogen production from wastewater and reuse of electrolyzed water. Especially the separation of wastewater generated in industrial zones without the use of chemicals and the production of hydrogen in the electrolysis process is important for environmental sustainability. In addition to industrial wastewater, wastewater from households can also be utilized as a potential energy source. This thesis will focus on the separation of wastewater from households by directing it to the designed prototype hydrogen device and the use of the hydrogen obtained from this process in fuel, heating and electrical energy production. In addition, the design stages of this device, the materials used, the working principles of the prototype, the control program, the analysis of the electrolyzed water, the analysis of the hydrogen produced and the electrical energy consumed will be explained in detail. At the end of the study, it is aimed to present a solution that will contribute to energy security and efficiency along with the potential of hydrogen to reduce environmental impacts.
