Evaluation of caregivers burden of the patients receiving home care health service

Researches about home care patients are limited in our country that there isn't found a research about the relation between the patients life quality and the burden of individuals who care for them. This research is a descriptive and cross sectional one which has been done to evaluate the burden of patients and primary caregivers. The population of the study consist of 120 patients registered in the district center of Kozan State Hospital in Adana, receiving home health care services. The study was completed with 105 patients whose entire population was sampled and 105 individuals who cared for them. The research was conducted between November 2018 and March 2019, after obtaining the institutional permission of Adana Provincial Health Directorate and the permission of Çukurova University Ethics Committee.During data collection, information form prepared by the researcher, load scale of the caregivers WHOQOL-Bref quality of life scale are used. In the evaluation of data, percentages, standart deviation middle average, Anova Test are used. It is detected in the research that %67.6 percentage of the patients are woman and their average quality of life scare is 68.15±9.9 patients quality of life is in the highest environment area with the average score 53.73±13.30 and lowest in the physical area with the average score 10.04±1.42. Besides this, it is designated that %90.5 percentage of caregivers are women and they middle/highly load. It is designated as a result of the research that there is a negative middle level and statistical relationship between patients quality of life and caregivers burden (p<0.01). So as the caregivers decreases, patients quality of life increases. It is suggestible to improve patients quality of life, with the help of health support services, to decrease the burden of caregivers, to improve health support services, home health services are not only patient ariented but also being focused on the caregivers and to train health personnel on this subject.
