Abstract (EN)
Marital relationship plays a very important role in human life. Research shows that being in a healthy marriage relationship helps individuals meet their emotional needs, feel secure, and develop secure ties with their immediate environment and society. The emotion regulation skills used by married individuals in their relationships not only affect their marital relationships but are also directly related to their psychological health. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation skills and psychological well-being, psychological resilience, self-compassion and hope in married individuals. The study group of the research consists of 604 married individuals residing in a city in the Central Black Sea Region. Convenient sampling method was used to select the participants. Participants answered a data collection tool consisting of the Personal Information Form, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, Self-Compassion Scale Short Form, Continuous Hope Scale, Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and standard multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, it was determined that cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation skills are related to psychological well-being, psychological resilience, self-compassion and hope. Individuals who frequently use adaptive cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation skills tend to have higher psychological well-being, psychological resilience, self-compassion and hope. Mental health professionals can markedly enhance the well-being of married couples by facilitating the development of adaptive cognitive and behavioral emotion regulation skills.
