Marital satisfaction and attachment dimensions as predictors of life satisfaction in married individuals

In this study, it was aimed to examine the marital satisfaction and attachment dimensions as predictors of life satisfaction of married individuals and also to show whether marital satisfaction and life satisfaction differed significantly according to the demographic variables. Research, living in various provinces of Turkey, 374 (259 female, 115 male) were carried out with data collected from married individuals with snowball sampling method. The anxiety and avoidance attachment dimension data related to the attachment of individuals to their lives in close relationships "Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R)", data on marital satisfaction "Marital Satisfaction Scale", data on life satisfaction "Life Satisfaction Scale" and personal information were collected by "The Personal İnformation Form" created by the researcher; IBM SPSS 25 Program was used to analyze the data and Independent Groups T-Test, One-Way Variance Analysis, Simple Regression Analysis, and Multiple Regression Analysis were used for data analysis. According to the findings of the study; it was concluded that the anxiety and avoidance dimensions related to attachment significantly predicted marital satisfaction and they had a moderate relationship with marital satisfaction. It was concluded that the anxiety and avoidance dimensions related to attachment significantly predicted life satisfaction together with low level of satisfaction with life satisfaction. It was found that both the anxiety and avoidance dimension scores did not differ significantly by gender. According to other findings obtained from the study; while marital satisfaction did not show a significant difference according to gender, duration of marriage and number of children, it was concluded that education level, family monthly income and marriage style differed significantly. While life satisfaction did not show a significant difference according to level of education, type of marriage, duration of marriage and number of children, it was found that gender and family were significantly different from their monthly income.
