Abstract (EN)
The emergence of the family institution and its healthy continuation depend on a marriage with solid foundations. What is important for both marriage and family is to ensure continuity in this union. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between married couples' spiritual orientations and happiness, to determine the role of spirituality in ensuring the happy continuation of marriage and to reveal its contribution to a happy marriage with data. In this context, a survey was conducted with 306 married individuals, taking into account Ankara and its districts. The couples were selected by the researcher, and the Oxford happiness scale and spiritual orientation scale were used in the study, and a personal information form was used to obtain demographic information. The research is organized according to the relational scanning model. By examining the relationship between happiness and spirituality and socio-demographic factors, it has been tried to determine how and to what extent they contribute to marriage, positively or negatively. For example, it has been observed that factors such as age, income level, gender and education level cause some variability in their relations with happiness and spirituality, sometimes giving positive and sometimes negative results. It was observed that while gender change showed a significant difference in happiness, it did not cause a significant difference in spiritual orientation, and the child status variable and age variable did not reveal a significant difference in terms of happiness and spiritual orientation. In the data obtained in terms of the education variable, the happiness rates of married couples with higher education levels were higher, while the same result was observed in spiritual orientation. While the level of happiness increased in those with high income levels, it did not cause a significant difference in terms of spiritual orientation. These and similar data we have obtained show that these variables are essentially effective in shaping both happiness and spirituality. In the findings regarding the relationship between happiness and spiritual orientation, a positive and significant relationship was detected between happiness levels and spiritual orientation levels. Therefore, this relationship shows us that as the level of spiritual orientation increases, the level of happiness also increases. The study shows how necessary spiritual orientation is in terms of revealing the importance and effect of its contribution to the happiness of couples, and proves that families' having a happier and more meaningful married life is related to their tendency towards spiritual orientation.
