Examining of relationship between marital anxiety and irrational beliefs and hopelessness in romantic relationships in unmarried individuals

ABSTRACT İn this research it has been aimed to examine the correlation between marital anxiety and irrational beliefs and hopelessness in the romantic relationships for the single individuals.Furthermore;marital anxiety of single individuals has been examined in the aspect of age,gender and romantic relationship status. The study group of the research consist of 390 university students whose ages are between 17-38,who are 223(54.5 percent)of them women and 167(45.5 percent) are men.İn the reasearch it has been collected datas on marital anxiety making use of 'Marriage Anxiety Scale'',datas on irrational beliefs on marriage making use of '' Romantic Relationship Beliefs İnventory'((Sarı, T. ve Owen, F. K.2015),datas on despair making use of ''Beck hopelessness Scale (BHS) (Seber,1991),(Beck and his team,1974),datas on age,gender and romantic relationship status making use of ''Personal information Form''. Research datas have been analyzed with Pearson correlation analysis,regression analysis and T test.İn this context correlations between marital anxiety and irrational romantic beliefs,hopelessness and age have been determined making use of Pearson correlation analysis.İt has been examined that determination of any significant difference on marital anxiety depends on gender and romantic relationship status. İn the result of the research in the light of data analysis ;it has been determined to be seen positive correlation with marital anxiety depends on gender difference and thinking in different way which are related with Romantic relationships Beliefs İnventory and hopelessness, and negative correlation with marital anxiety and happiness expectation level on marriage. On the other hand;it has been seen no significant correlation in the aspect of statics with marital anxiety and age,extreme expectations, use of social time,pyhsical proximity which are related Romantic Relationship Beliefs İnventory. Besides;it has been seen that marital anxiety level may significantly varies in the aspect of statics depends on gender and romantic relationship status. İn other words; in the research it has been determined to be seen higher marital anxiety levels in women and single individuals who have no romantic relationships.
