Examining the role of life satisfaction and sexual self-consciousness in marital disaffection

In this study, it was aimed to examine the life satisfaction and sexual self-consciousness of married individuals as predictors of marital dissatisfaction and also to reveal whether marital dissatisfaction differs significantly according to the demographic variables determined. The research was carried out with the data collected by snowball sampling method from 435 (239 female, 196 male) married individuals living in various provinces of Turkey. Data on individuals' dissatisfaction with their marital life were recorded in the "Marriage Discontent Scale", data on life satisfaction in the "Life Satisfaction Scale", data on sexual self-consciousness in the "Sexual Self Awareness Scale" and personal (demographic) information on the "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher. has been collected. IBM SPSS 26 Program was used in the analysis of the data, and Independent Groups t-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance, Multiple Regression Analysis were used in the analysis process. According to the findings obtained from the research; life satisfaction and sexual self-consciousness significantly predicted marital dissatisfaction; It has been concluded that life satisfaction has a negative relationship with marital dissatisfaction, and sexual self-consciousness has a positive relationship with marital dissatisfaction. In the study, marital dissatisfaction was examined according to demographic variables. According to the findings, marital dissatisfaction; While it was found that there was no significant difference according to education level, it was found that there was a significant difference according to gender, type of marriage, duration of marriage and number of children.
