According to Awliya Chalabi'sTtravelbook, Mosul, Sharazwr and Amadiyah

Mosul and Sharazwr provinces with Emdiyah city was important territories of Ottoman Empire in terms of economic, political and , cultural. In the age of Ottoman, lots of researches were made about these territories. These researches mostly base on the formal documents like Tahrir notebooks. However, one of the important resources is travelers' narrations about the region. A lot of missionary travelers who are from western countries visited these territories due to aiding espionage activities. At the same time, Ottoman travelers went these territories because of travel and formal duties of state. One of the Ottoman traveler is Awliya Chalabi. Awliya Chalabi explains culture, civilization and administration of these territories by giving large details of information within 4th volume of his Seyāḥat-nāme Awliya Chelebi visited Mosul, Sharazwr and Emdiyah between 1655 and 1656. In his visit to these cities, Awliya Chelebi paid attention to history, science, administration and religious lives. He narrates important information about mosques, places, baths, madrasahs and ancient things of these cities in his works. Awliya Chelebi paid special attention to the history of administration and structure by giving large details of information about rulers and their families. He met with the rulers of that period and explained the structures of their administration. Also, he gives information about relations between Ottoman Empire and rulers. He examined and noted daily lives, religions, languages, foods, special days, social and cultural lives of people. The purpose of this work is to compare of Awliya Chelebi's Seyāḥat-nāme with sources which gives information about the cities at that time and identify shortages of Awliya Chelebi. It will be taken a more transparent photograph about these cities and age of that time through this comparison.
