The art of exlibris and its applications in the digital media

In the first chapter out of five, under the title of `Development in Art Before the Art of Exlibris? writing, paper, written documents, seals representing the state of belonging, books, early libraries, development of printing press and typography, all of which started in the `Prehistoric Period? and extended to the present art of typography and of which formed the history of art and source of Exlibris Art, were examined. Moreover, their application fields and pieces of works were mentioned. In the second chapter called `Exlibris Art?, based on the information given in the first chapter, the definition of exlibris art, its history, its ways of applications, its place in Turkey were discussed. Turkish and worldwide exlibris artists of all time were illustrated. In the third chapter named `Exlibris Art in the Digital Media?, by examing what digital media is, what the development phases of the computer are, which is the most important tecnological instrument for the digital media, and what the effects of science and technology on art and vice versa are, such topics were evaluated: how to apply exlibris art, based on press techniques, in the digital media without letting it lose its characteristics and authenticity and what the facilities are in applying them and what the possibilities of applying it with today?s developed computer software are. Samples made in the digital media were presented in this chapter. In the fourth part of the thesis, in accordance with the thesis, pieces of exlibris art in which different techniques or photographs are used or all of which are made in digtal media presented. In the last part, as a result of all these studies and applications exlibris art in the digital world and its applications discussed.
