Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to test the effect of Aesopian tales on listening comprehension success. The study group is formed by 45 students studying at grade 2 of a state school located in city center of Isparta at 2018-2019 Academic Year. The model of the study is pre-test / post-test quasi-experimental with control group. Two groups have been selected randomly in pre-test / post-test model with experimental and control group. Both groups have been assessed with first three tales as pre-test and with last three tales as post-test along with listening and comprehension tasks. In the activities of quasi-experimental study model, 18 different Aesop tales have been used. The study has lasted for six weeks. Tasks assessing listening and comprehension skills development have been implemented following each tale. The data have been collected via a form consisting of three questions that was developed from 5 Ws and 1 H technique. The variance among pre-test and post-test results of the students has been detected. Thus, the change in listening and comprehension skills of the students has been tracked. SPSS (Statistic Package For Social Science) has been used in analysis of the data obtained within the framework the study. In the analysis of the data, percentage, arithmetic mean and minimum and maximum values have been used as descriptive statistical techniques while independent and dependent T-test and analysis of covariance have been used as statistical techniques. A significant variance has been found between the pre-test scores and post-test scores. The total post-test scores of the students are higher than the total pre-test scores. The listening and comprehension tasks have significantly contributed to the development of such skills. It has been found that the study has yielded positive outcomes regarding the improvement of listening and comprehension skills of students. It could be stated that Aesop tales have worked well in acquiring students with listening and comprehension skills.
