Effects of different amino acid sources on broiler performance, serum biochemical parameters and carcass quality

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of proposed 2 different doses (1.0 and 1.25g/kg feed) herbal extract as methionine source instead of synthetically produced DL methioine (1g/kg feed) on feding performance, serum biochemistry and relative organ weights. In the study,1 day old total 312 male Ross 308 broiler chicks were used as animal material. Trial was arranged according to Completely Randomized Design, containing 3 groups and 3 replicates. At the end of the sudy, there were no statistically significant differences among groups for live weight, live weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio values, gizzard, carcass and abdominal fat weights (P>0.05). However, there were statistically significant differences among groups for relative intestine and liver weights were found higher in synthetic DL- metihionine containing group (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences only between herbal extract methionine contaning groups for relative spleen weights (P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences among herbal extract and synthetic methionine contaning groups for blood serum glucose, total protein, creatinine, trigliseride, cholesterol and Ca concentrations (P>0.05). However, there were statistically significant differences among groups for uric acid, albümine and phosphorus values (P<0.05). As a result, herbal extract as natural methionine can be used confidently instead of synthetic DL- methionine without negatively effect animal health and performance
