Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to investigate the effects of pix applications on yield, yield components, fiber quality characteristics and some physiological parameters at different plant development stages in cotton. In the research MAY 455 cotton variety was used as the material and Pix (Mepiquat Chloride) as the plant growth regulator. Pix applications consisted of 10 applications including the control. As a result of the study, it was determined that there were significant statistical differences among the applications in terms of the examined characteristics such as number of sympodial branches, seed cotton yield, leaf chlorophyll content, fiber length, fiber strength and spinning consistency index. It was determined that pix applications had no significant effect on the other investigated traits. In the study, it was determined that with 100 cc/da pix application in the squaring initiation period, seed cotton yield, number of sympodial branches and fiber length values increased, the highest chlorophyll content value (SPAD value) was obtained with pix applications applied at 100 cc/da in the flowering initiation period and 100 cc/da in the squaring initiation period. In the study, it was determined that the highest fiber strength was obtained with 150 cc/da in the squaring initiation period and 50 cc/da in the flowering initiation period, the highest spinning consistency index was obtained from 50 cc/da in the flowering initiation period and 100 cc/da in the squaring initiation period. As a result of the research, positive effects of pix application at a dose of 100 cc/da during the squaring initiation period were determined and it was concluded that pix application at a dose of 100 cc/da during the squaring initiation period increased the values of seed cotton yield, number of sympodial branches, chlorophyll content, fiber length, fiber strength and spinning consistency index. It is understood from the results of this research that pix application is appropriate for cotton during the squaring initial stage, and that the flowering period is a late period for pix application.
