Abstract (EN)

Geotechnical engineering studies the behaviour of structures with which soils interact. It is among the structures that are in direct interaction with the soil in buried pipes and are important in terms of civil engineering applications. It is very important to understand the pipe-soil interaction problem, especially under external loads. In this study, the pipe-soil-structure interaction problem was investigated experimentally. In recent years, with the development of technology, the Particle Image Velocity Measurement (PIV) method is as an important method in investigating the problems encountered in geotechnical engineering. In the model experiments carried out within the scope of this thesis, the PIV method was used to determine the failure mechanisms in the soil. In model experiment studies, the effects of many variables such as different pipe diameters, soil densities and different burial depths of the pipe on the failure mechanism were investigated. The load-displacement curves were obtained from the model experiments, and the stresses on the pipe were also measured with the help of strain gauges placed on the pipe. When the results were examined, it was seen that the pipe diameter and burial depth directly affected the behaviour.
