Özet (EN)
The coeficient of variation and fractal theory are becoming an increasingly useful tool to describe soil heterogeneity for a better understanding of the performance of soil systems. Changes in land slope patterns significantly affect soil physical, chemical and biological properties. However, limited information is available on the variation coeficient and fractal characteristics of deep soil layers under different soil slope segments. Classical and modern statistical approaches can be define the heterogeneity of the soil and allow to compare the desertification trends of different soils. In this study, the variation coefficient and fractal analysis statistical technics were used to describe desertification tendency along soil profiles for sixteen soil variables in five different slope group (0-2%, 3-6%, 7-12%, >12%). Fort his purpose, totally 1808 soil samples were collected from a land consolidation project site of Ortaköy district of Aksaray city in Turkey. In the study, soil texture, saturation, pH, EC, salt, lime, Ca + Mg, Na, SAR, ESP, B, Clay Ratio I, Clay Ratio II and Clay Ratio III contents were taken into consideration. There are generally a low correlations between the coefficient of variation and the fractal coefficient in defining the heterogeneity of the soil properties in the different slope groups. According to the coefficient of variation, saturation, pH, salt, lime, silt, clay, Ca + Mg, Na, SAR, ESP and B properties of soil in different slope groups showed significant differences. According to the fractal coefficient, pH, salt, lime, silt, Ca + Mg, Na, SAR and ESP showed significant differences. Generally, coefficient of variation values increased and fractal coefficient values decreased with increasing slope. Both approaches were found to be appropriate and advisable in determining the heterogeneity of soils.
