Abstract (EN)
Objective: Calcium silicate cements are frequently used in routine clinical practice. This study aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical properties such as pH, calcium release, radiopacity, solubility, compressive strength, and water absorption of TheraBase, a new resin-containing calcium silicate cement, and different types of calcium silicate-containing cements under in vitro conditions. Results: In the evaluation of compressive strength, the highest compressive strength was observed in the TheraBase group, while the lowest compressive strength was observed in the BIOMTA+ group (p<0.05). In the evaluation of radiopacity; the highest radiopacity was observed in the BIOMTA+ group, while the lowest radiopacity value was observed in the TheraCal LC group (p<0.05). In the solubility evaluation, the highest solubility was observed in the Biodentin group, while the lowest solubility was observed in the TheraCal LC group (p<0.05). In all periods, the lowest water absorption value was observed in the TheraBase group, while the highest water absorption value was observed in the TheraCal LC group. When pH findings were analysed, TheraBase showed the lowest pH values in all periods, while Biodentin showed the highest pH values (p<0.05). When we look at the calcium ion release results, the TheraBase group showed the lowest values in all periods (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, there are differences between the physical and chemical properties of different calcium silicate materials. Further clinical research is needed to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of TheraBase material more comprehensively. Keywords: Calcium silicate, MTA, Biodentine, TheraCal LC, TheraBase
