Different cap sized and growiing environments investigation of the effect of Toros Cedar seedlings on the quality: Ankara(Yenikent) İlyakut nursery example

Abstract (EN)

One of the important factors affecting success in afforestation studies is the sapling material used. It is very important to use quality seedling material. The aim of this study is to evaluate the seedling quality of Toros cedar seedlings produced in different pot sizes and growing environments in Ankara(Ilyakut) forest nursery in terms of morphological characteristics. Two-way analysis of variance was used to compare the groups. In this analysis, growth media (Y1:70%Soil + 30%Humus, Y2: 70%Soil + 20%Humus + 10%Fertilizer, Y3: 70%Soil + 10%Humus + 10%Fertilizer + 10%Shell, Y4: 70%Soil + 10%Humus + 10%Fertilizer + 5%Shell + 5% Pumice) and cap sizes(K1:11x25, K2:11x30, K3:18x30) were taken as treatment(factor) and the number of side roots which were measured variables, root fresh weight, bast fresh weight, root dry weight, bast dry weight were evaluated as dependent variable. In the case of statistically significant differences with the analysis of variance, Duncan test was used to obtain homogeneous subgroups. Confidence level accepted in the study was 95% and importance level was 5%. SPSS15.0 package program was used to calculate the significance levels and other statistics related to these analyzes. According to the results of the study, it was found that the cup type was statistically effective on all the measured morphological features, and that the increase of the vessel size increased the mean height of the seedling, root diameter, root fresh weight, fresh weight of fresh fruit and dry weight, and the growing environment caused different effects on morphological values. It was observed. According to the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE 1988), when the growth medium and vessel size are evaluated separately, the largest container size (18x30) with a value of 93.3% of the vessel size, Y1 (70% soil + 30% Hummus) 91% of the growth medium , With a value of 9, the highest grade of quality was found to have a sapling. In addition, when we evaluate the growth medium-pot size joint interaction, it is seen that the interaction rate of Y1 (70% soil + 30% Humus) -K3 (18x 30) has a ratio of 96.7%.
