Abstract (EN)
Objective: Caffeine mouth rinsing (MR) is a new method of caffeine supplementation. In the literature, solutions containing different doses of caffeine have been used. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of mouth rinsing of different concentrations (60mg-150mg-300mg/25ml) of caffeine solutions on the Stroop Attention Test (SAT) in healthy, recreationally active male individuals. Methods: Thirty recreationally active male individuals over the age of 18, healthy, not consuming alcohol or smoking, not taking medication or nutritional support that may affect attention and concentration, daily caffeine consumption of 150-300 mg/day, and not color blind, participated in the study. SDT was applied to the individuals on different days before FWT, 20 seconds of WAP application (60mg-150mg-300mg caffeine solution shaking, placebo and control) was performed, and then SDT was performed again. The study was designed as randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled and crossover. According to the normal distribution of the data, the Analysis of Variance in Repeated Measurements or the Friedman Test; Differences before and after FL intervention were analyzed with the paired sample t-test or Wilcoxon Test. Results: Compared to placebo and control, interventions containing 300mg and 150mg caffeine had a significant positive effect on SDT duration. In the SDT error evaluations, positive changes are noted at the 150mg dose. When solutions containing 300mg and 150mg of caffeine were rinsed in the mouth, the perceived difficulty level was reduced. As the perceived taste intensity score increased, significant improvements were observed in the SDT time after MR the solution containing 300mg of caffeine. Conclusion: It can be concluded that in physically active healthy men, SAT times, errors and RPE were affected bythe intervention of 150mg-300mg caffeine-containing solutions, biggest effect was 300mg, followed by 150mg of caffeine-containing solution, and these effects did not occur for 60mg. In the future, it maybe recommended to conduct studies in which the brain activities of elite athletes're also evaluated.
