The effect of different organic fertilizers on salt tolerance of turf mixture

This study was conducted in order to determine the effects of different organic fertilizers's [amino acid (AA), cow manure (CM), biochar (BC), leonardite (LEO), sheep manure (SM), worm manure (WM), poultry manure (PM) and bat guano (BG)] on salt tolerance (150 mM) in tufgrass mixture 50% perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.), 25% creeping fescue (Festuca rubra L. subsp. rubra) and 25% tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)] in 2019-2020 growing season, during 6.5 months, under greenhouse conditions in plastic pots with three replications according to the split-plot design. At the end of the study, salt stress affected negatively all of the examined features at varying rates (75-95%) and when evaluated on average, compared to the control; the rates of 53.4% in plant height, the rates of 73.1% in fresh weight, the rates of 57.8% in dry weight, the rates of 38.6% in quality, the rates of 34.3% in color, the rates of 32.3% in coverage rate, the rates of 35.5% in density, the rates of 54.1% in relative chlorophyll content index (RCCI), and the rates of 28.5% in LRWC value was determined that there were decreases, respectively. However; when compared to organic fertilizer applications and salt stress application; in plant height 86.5%, in fresh weight 439%, in dry weight 245.0%, in quality 102.2%, in color 51.4%, in coverage rate 86.3%, in density 46.5%, in chlorophyll index 50.0% and in LRWC 21.3% was determined that there were increases positively. As a result, it is seen that the applied organic fertilizers affect the negativities caused by salt stress in a good way at varying rates, and among the applications, the sheep manure (SM) and bat guano (BG) stand out a little more than the others.
