Evaluation of the cytotoxicity of adhesive materials with different pH values in a cell culture media

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of adhesive systems with different pH value on L929 Mouse Fibroblast Cell. Materials and Methods: The adhesives to be evaluated in terms of cytotoxicity All-Bond Universal (Bisco), G-Premio Bond (GC), Bond Force II (Tokuyama), Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (Kuraray) were not subjected to any polymerization process and were used in different dilutions (%0,1, %0,01, %0,001 ve %0,0001). L929 cells were seed at 3x10 cells per well in 90 of medium, and then 10 of adhesive material was added. The toxicity values of the materials were measured at 24, 48 and 72 hours of incubation using the MTT assay. Results: Two-way anova was used to evaluate the data and Bonferroni post-test was used for statistically significant groups. Statistically significant differences in toxicity levels were found between different adhesive systems at various time points and concentrations (p<0,05). Among the compared groups, All Bond Universal (ABU) showed the most cytotoxic effect at all time periods and dilutions. Tokuyama Bond Force II (TBFII) was the most biocompatible material at high doses, while Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (CUBQ) was the most biocompatible material at lower doses (0,001%, 0,0001%) at 24 and 48 hours. Conclusion: İt was determined that all adhesives used had a certain level of cytotoxicity and that this toxicity varied depending on time and concentration.
