Abstract (EN)

In this research, analyzing the vocabularies of six year old children, who live in the city of Aydın, from different socio-cultural levels was aimed with respect to parental attitudes. The plan of the research contained an introductory chapter, literature review, research method, findings and comments, and a conclusion. The sample set of the research was formed by 126 students attending primary schools in Aydın, and their mothers. PARI, Parent Attitude Research Instrument was used for qualifying parental attitudes and Limbosh and Wolf?s test for vocabulary and language was used for qualifying the children?s vocabulary performance. Some of the key personal information was collected via general information forms. The survey method was employed in the research and the relationship between socio-cultural level and the vocabulary was examined at first. It was statistically confirmed that the increasing socio-cultural level had a positive impact on the vocabulary. The relationship between parental attitude and vocabulary was examined secondly. The examination showed that the factors, excessive protection, domination and discipline, and matrimonial troubles had a negative impact on vocabulary. As the final investigation it was checked whether the socio-cultural level had any influence on the parental attitudes and it was found that as the socio-cultural level decreased, the negatively perceived attitudes? affect increased.KEYWORDSSocio-cultural level, parental attitude, vocabulary
